Eviction Ban Called For in Manitoba

Poverty advocates from Make Poverty History Manitoba are calling for the Government of Manitoba to reinstate eviction bans. Manitoba (among others) is seeing an uptick in homelessness and this is concerning as the temperatures continue to drop and COVID-19 numbers remain high. The previous eviction ban was in place from March until October. Advocates say that the government needs to protect the vulnerable by ensuring housing and services are available, while also protecting landlords who are not receiving consistent rent payments.
