Taneesha Herbert, BA

Research Assistant

Taneesha Herbert is an Anishinaabe and Michif Two-Spirit woman from Cote First Nation. Having obtained a Certificate in Reconciliation and nearly completed two concurrent Bachelor of Arts with majors in Psychology and Sociology and minors in Indigenous studies and Indigenous Health Studies, Taneesha has been actively working towards Reconcili-Action and promoting Two-Eyed Seeing. They are also building two non-profits in Regina that directly engage in decolonization and reconciliation. They have began creating Aunt-T Avenue, a family-first cultural childcare centre, with a focus on cultural revitalization and filling the program gaps for Indigenous families. As Chief Financial Officer of Buffalo Culture Collective, Taneesha hopes to rematriate the buffalo for Indigenous cultures in order to return to wholistic and traditional teachings. Working with the Child Trauma Research Centre allows for crosssectional information sharing and aligns with my desire to prevent - and end - trauma cycles that stem from colonized societies.
