We are proud to announce that the University of Regina with the Child Trauma Research Centre have been selected as the inaugural recipient of the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation Provincial Maternal and Pediatric Research Fund. This funding allows us to continue to grow with and for the province of Saskatchewan in our goal to mitigate and prevent the short-term and long-term impacts of childhood trauma.
Childhood trauma has social, emotional, economic, educational, health, and well-being effects, not only on the children of today, but also on the children and adults of tomorrow. The current state of child and youth mental health in Canada requires attention and intervention. Over one million Canadian children and 7.5 million youth suffer from mental health issues. Through this funding, we at the CTRC will conduct research and create community connections to improve outcomes for children, youth, and families across Saskatchewan.
We are so grateful to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation and to everyone who has supported us over the years. The CTRC, as it is today, would not be possible without the support from the University of Regina, our fierce supporters, and those with whom we have worked since our inception in 2020
