The University of Regina Child Trauma Research Centre (CTRC) recently opened its doors to the new Child and Youth Trauma Research Incubator (ThRIve) lab, thanks to support from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation, the Office of the Vice President (Research), and the Faculty of Social Work.
The ThRIve lab aims to make a difference by furthering the mission of the Canadian Consortium on Child and Youth Trauma to improve the lives of children and youth impacted by trauma. The lab provides workspace, equipment, and a Community Connections Centre meeting space within the CTRC to form one integrated centre. The lab brings together researchers, practitioners, community partners and students across multiple disciplines and walks of life, both physically and virtually. Innovative and interactive research findings will inform local, provincial, and national standards, policies, and practices.
Supported by Director of the CTRC, Dr. Nathalie Reid, ThRIve will be led Dr. Lise Milne, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Social Work and CTRC Research Chair. ThRIve is part of a network of eight Canadian universities, including Calgary, McMaster, Montréal, Ottawa, Regina, Toronto and Quebec à Trois-Rivières, with the national hub led by Dr. Delphine Collin-Vézina at McGill University. Already engaged in several policy and research initiatives related to child and youth mental health and well-being, ThRIve is making its mark as the first pan-Canadian collaboration of its kind for child and youth trauma.
